Rainbow Dash Cosplay

One of my favorite characters from MLP:FiM!

Between the wig, wings, bracelets, and cutie marks, this cosplay took approximately 40-50 hours to complete.

The wig is a single rainbow wig purchased from Amazon. I never styled a wig before (and have no clue how to even style my real hair). Decided that a spikey design seemed in line with Dash's actual hair-do and personality. Used about a bottle of Got2b Glued hairspray.

Wings were made from stiff felt and have a wire rim. I used two pieces of felt for each wing to help them hold their shape. The wire is hidden inside the wings. The wire provided additional stability and enabled me to bend the wings outward. Lastly, I used embroidery floss in a more vibrant blue color to make the wings pop and hold everything together. The wings are stitched onto a hooded sweatshirt using thread the same color as the felt (so, they are virtually invisible).

The bracelets are made from two different bead sets and elastic purchased from a chain craft store. The combination of blue and white made me think of the sky and clouds. ^^ There are 18 bracelets in total. I have since stumbled upon clear elastic for bracelets and think it would have been a better choice.

Cutie marks were just made from plain felt and carefully hand-stitched. The felt pieces were very tiny and hard to work with.

The ears were purchased from Etsy shop owner Orihalcon2015 and are totally awesome.

The fleece cutie mark cloak was made by Merika of Antipode, the geek bellydance troupe (also totally awesome) -- not shown in this photo.

All other items were just regular clothes. Was happy to re-use a jean skirt that I must have bought 10 years ago. The skirt was originally full length, but Glitterforge Phoenix helped me cut it to just above the knee --- not shown in this photo.  The "butt shorts" are just plain shorts with a felt cutie mark cut and hand-stitched.
